Calogero Rizzuto (born January 20, 1955 in Sambuca di Sicilia , Sicily ; † March 23, 2020 in Syracuse , Sicily) was an Italian architect and monument conservator .

Life and career

Rizzuto completed his architecture studies at the University of Palermo in 1983 and worked as a resident architect in Rosolini until 1989 . Through projects in the autonomous region of Sicily , he acquired great competence as a manager in the culture and tourism sector in the following years.

Since 2007 Rizzuto has been responsible for the cultural heritage of the Sicilian region on the soprint tendencies in Ragusa and Syracuse. He also worked at the Kamarina Museum . Since summer 2019 he has held the post of First Director of the Archaeological Parks of Syracuse ( Parco Archeologico della Neapolis , Villa Romana del Tellaro , ancient Heloros ) and dedicated himself to the further development of the development and protection of the archaeological sites.

Calogero Rizzuto, who lived in Rosolini , was married with two children. He died in March 2020 at the age of 65 during the corona pandemic after days of incorrect treatment from the consequences of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
