Robert Schuller (architect)

Robert Schuller (born January 25, 1929 in Innsbruck ; † July 30, 1990 there ) was a Tyrolean architect and university professor and, among other things, head of the Institute for Design at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Innsbruck .

Life

Robert Schuller grew up in Innsbruck- Hötting . His father was the artistic director of the Tyrolean glass painting and mosaic company Gottlieb Schuller . Robert Schuller graduated from the higher building school in Innsbruck in 1949 with distinction. This was followed by 20 years of activity at the Tyrolean regional building department for construction management and planning, and he studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich . As early as 1956, Schuller planned the well-known Passion Play House in Erl in the style of an organ-like post-war modernism as a large sculpture in the landscape. His other works include the bioclimatic research institute on Patscherkofel , the revitalization of the Innsbruck arsenal, built around 1500, into a branch of the State Museum , the workshops with the new stage of the Tyrolean State Theater , the Tyrolean State Sports Center, the children's home in Mils near Hall, and the ceremonial complex Tent roof for Pope John Paul II's visit in the Bergisel Stadium . From 1971 to 1990, Schuller was one of the most important teachers of architecture at the University of Innsbruck. Schuller's estate is in the Archives for Architecture in Innsbruck.
