Robert Stemmer

Robert Stemmer (born November 12, 1925 in Strasbourg , France , † June 8, 2000 ) was a French doctor, angiologist and phlebologist .

biography

Robert Stemmer studied medicine in Clermont-Ferrand and received his doctorate in Strasbourg in 1950. At first he worked as a general practitioner, but then specialized in angiology.

From 1970 to 1985 he headed the Phlebological Polyclinic of the Surgical Clinic at the University of Strasbourg. In 1976 he described the Stemmer symbol named after him . Stemmer was Secretary General of the International Union of Phlebology from 1998 until his sudden death.
