Robert Sterflinger (born April 7, 1964 in Farchant ) is a former German ice hockey player (defender). From 1981 to 1997 he played continuously in the German ice hockey Bundesliga and from 1994 in the German ice hockey league (DEL).

Career

Sterflinger spent his first 18 years in Farchant and initially played for SC Riessersee , with whom he became German youth champion. Before the 1984/85 season he moved to Cologne EC . Here he only stayed for one season and then moved to Düsseldorfer EG .

He spent the 1985/86 and 1986/87 seasons at DEG, but then moved back to the KEC and became German champion in 1988 with Cologne . For the 1990/91 season he then moved back to DEG and was German champion again in the first season with Düsseldorf. He was able to defend this title in 1991/92 , 1992/93 and 1995/96 with Düsseldorf.

Sterflinger has become German champion five times, has been voted Defender of the Year twice and has accompanied the national team throughout his career.

Today he lives in Langenfeld (Rhineland) and runs an insurance agency in Düsseldorf.

family

Robert Sterflinger comes from an ice hockey family. His father and uncle were involved in the management of the SC Riessersee. Like Robert Sterflinger, his cousins Thomas Sterflinger and Peppi Heiß were active in the ice hockey Bundesliga.
