Robert Thaller († 1982 in Linz ) was an Austrian musician , conductor , composer and songwriter .

Robert Thaller was a trumpeter in the orchestra of the Linz State Theater . He was a founding member of the “ Linzer Buambrass band in the interwar period. After it was re-established after the Second World War, due to differences with the previous leadership of the band, he founded his own Linz Buam formation. This became - not least because of the show performances and the popular singer and yodeler Annemarie Leitner - also the more popular. Thaller performed with his Linzer Buam at fairs at home and abroad and also made guest appearances in the USA and with Pope Johannes XXIII. Thaller remained Kapellmeister and trumpeter of the Linzer Buam until his death in 1982.

He created compositions and arrangements for brass music and wrote some song texts himself, e.g. B. on compositions by Werner Brüggemann .

Numerous records by the Linz Buam were recorded under his direction; in addition, he also directed the Egerland brass band . The Thaller family also ran a painting business in Linz.
