Robert Węgrzyn

Robert Węgrzyn (born September 15, 1968 in Kędzierzyn ) is a Polish politician.

Life

In 1987 Węgrzyn became a foreman at the ZZGT Polgaz Gliwice plant in Gliwice . At the beginning of the 1980s he became deputy chairman of the Solidarność group. In 1991 he left Poland to work in Sweden. He worked on construction in Gothenburg and Borås and built single-family houses. In 1994 he moved back to his hometown as his son was born. He started working as a self-employed person, but had to give it up again in 1997. In 1998 Robert Węgrzyn became an employee of a German construction company and was later promoted to director of the commercial department. In 2003 he accepted a position as commercial director of a Latvian-Polish company in Warsaw .

In 2006 he applied as a candidate for the liberal-conservative Platforma Obywatelska for the post of mayor of Kędzierzyn-Koźle , but was defeated in the second ballot against the Social Democrat Wiesław Fąfara . In the early parliamentary elections in 2007 , he won a seat for the Sejm with 10,132 votes in constituency 21 in Opole .

Due to homophobic remarks, Węgrzyn was excluded from the citizens' platform in March 2011 and then left the party faction in the Sejm.

Robert Węgrzyn is married and has two children.
