Robert Waring Darwin

Robert Waring Darwin (born October 17, 1724 in Newark , Lincolnshire , † November 4, 1816 in Elston , Nottinghamshire ) was an English doctor and botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " RWDarwin ".

Live and act

Robert Waring Darwin was the son of the lawyer Robert Darwin of Elston (1682-1754) and his wife Elizabeth Hill (1702-1797). One of his brothers was Erasmus Darwin .

He studied in Leiden , where he graduated as a doctor of medicine in 1784. In 1787 he published his work Principia botanica , in which he dealt with the sexual system of plants by Carl von Linné . He has also published several articles in the Philosophical Transactions and other journals.
