Robert Younis (born August 14, 1985 in Sydney ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Younis was a member of the Australian national school team in 2003 and was given the opportunity to audition for the English club Liverpool FC . The striker played mostly for the APIA Leichhardt Tigers in the NSW Premier League between 2004 and 2008 and scored 63 goals in 71 games during this period. After he was the league's top scorer with 21 goals in 21 games in the 2008 season, he received a two-year contract with A-League club Adelaide United in the summer of 2008 .

With Adelaide he was in the final of the AFC Champions League in November of the same year and was substituted on in both final games against Gamba Osaka . As a result, he was also part of the Adelaide squad at the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup, and when he reached fifth place, he was part of all three games. In the league he was usually only second choice behind Cristiano and remained in his twelve league appearances, none of them over the full distance (three substitutions, nine substitutions), without scoring. In the championship play-offs he was no longer considered; During the season break he was awarded back to the Leichhardt Tigers in Sydney, more than 1,300 kilometers away. In April 2009, Younis asked for the termination of his contract, which was complied with by the club. In addition to the sporting situation, the reasons given were also homesickness.
