Robert de Ferrers, 1st Baron Ferrers of Wemme
Robert de Ferrers, 1st Baron Ferrers of Wemme (also Robert Ferrers or Baron Ferrers de Wem ) (* around 1341, † 1380 or 1381) was an English nobleman.
Robert de Ferrers came from the old English noble Ferrers family . He was a younger son of Robert de Ferrers, 3rd Baron Ferrers of Chartley and his second wife Joan de la Mote. After his father's death in 1350, his older half-brother John de Ferrers inherited his father's estates and title. Robert served in France during the Hundred Years' War , including 1373 under John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster . After his mother's death in 1375, he inherited her property. By Writ of Summons he was called to Parliament on December 28, 1375 and elevated to Baron Ferrers of Wemme . However, he died a few years later.
Ferrers married Elizabeth le Botiler († 1411) around 1370 , the only daughter and heiress of William le Botiler, 3rd Baron Botiler and his wife Elizabeth de Holand. She brought several Shropshire estates into the marriage, including Wem , Loppington, and Oversley . With her he had a son who became his heir:
After his death, his widow married Sir John Say in a second marriage before 1382 , and Sir John Moliton after his death before 1403 .
