Roberto Aballay (born November 22, 1922 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine football player on the position of the striker .
biography
Aballay began his professional career in 1940 in the service of CA River Plate , where he was also under contract in the championship year 1941, but was only used twice in these two seasons. Since he was unable to assert himself in the River Plate team, which was then riddled with stars, he moved to the second division club Argentinos Juniors for the 1942 season , but only managed one mission there, in which he managed a goal. For the game year 1943 he moved to the first division club CA Banfield , for which he came on 13 missions and scored 8 goals.
At the end of 1943 he moved to the Mexican first division club Asturias , where he experienced his personal best phase. After he won the first professional championship of Mexico with his new club in the 1943/44 season , he was in the 1944/45 season - with the fantastic result of 40 goals in 24 games (and thus the best ever in the Mexican League scored, quotient of 1.67) - Top scorer in the Mexican League.
He then returned to his homeland and hired the CA San Lorenzo de Almagro , for whom he was under contract between 1946 and 1948 and won the championship in 1946 , but (despite an extremely positive record of 7 goals in his only 9 appearances) ) could not enforce again.
In 1949 he left Argentina and went to Europe, where he first played in Serie A for CFC Genoa (1949/50) and then in Ligue 1 for FC Nancy (1950–1952) and FC Metz (1952–1955) . He then moved to the Algerian MC Alger , in whose service he let his active career end in the 1955/56 season.
After finishing his active career, Aballay worked as a trainer, including at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata .
