Roberto Aguerre

Roberto Aguerre Ravizza (born June 1, 1939 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan sculptor , historian , architect and film director .

Life

A historian and journalist by training, Aguerre came to Europe after traveling through Latin America in the early 1970s and lived for years in Italy and Spain. Initially, he taught in Florence, with a focus on the history of Latin America and the semiotics of architecture. From 1976 he devoted himself to the medium of film and his artistic career. Aguerre founded the production company Filmstudio 12 , with which he made short documentaries and a feature film: In Elogio della pazzia he worked with Marcel Marceau . The film was shown only to a limited extent. In 1993 he worked for RAI as the producer of a seven-part series on Uruguayan culture.

Since 1980 Aguerre has been represented with his art in numerous exhibitions; his sculptural work with Murano glass is well known.
