Roberto Appratto

Roberto Appratto (born August 28, 1950 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan writer and literary critic .

Appratto, who successfully completed his literary studies at the Instituto de Profesores Artigas (IPA) in 1974 , has also worked there since 1991 as a lecturer in literary theory and as a teacher for the secondary level. From 1975 to 1979 Appratto was a literary critic for the magazine Maldoror , after which he took over the same area in La Plaza until 1981 and also worked in this area for the weekly newspaper Jaque . From 1983 to 1987 he was a film critic for the Aquí newspaper . Until 1998 he also worked for El País Cultural . In 1998 he was honored in the competition for unpublished short stories of the Intendencia Municipal of Montevideo . Four years later he won first prize in this competition with his work En el momento mismo . In 2007 he received the Premio Nacional. In 1974, 1975, 1979 and 1995 he published critical works on Chekhov , Edgar Allan Poe , Jorge Luis Borges and EE Cummings . He has also published five novels and eight volumes of poetry.
