Roberto Rubio
Roberto Rubio (born February 9, 1917 in Castillos , † October 28, 2011 in Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan politician and heart surgeon.
Mediciners
On February 3, 1960 in Montevideo in Sanatorio No.1 del CASMU, together with the cardiologist Prof. Orestes Fiandra, he carried out the world's first successful pacemaker implantation , with which the 40-year-old patient survived nine months.
Politician
Rubio later also worked as a politician. He was a member of the Partido Nacional , whose temporary chair he was unanimously appointed on March 23, 1988 to succeed the late Wilson Ferreira Aldunate . He also sat as deputy senator in the 42nd legislative period in the Cámara de Senadores for the following periods :
