Robgill Tower is a tower house between Kirtlebridge and Kirkpatrick-Fleming in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . The 16th century tower on a hill above Kirtle Water is primarily used for agricultural and residential purposes. The Tower House, the stables and the gateway are listed as Category B buildings. The gardens, on the other hand, are classified as Category C buildings.

etymology

The name is derived from the old English proper name Hreodbeorht (German: Robert) and from the old Norwegian Gil (German: Tobel ). In 1125 the name was mentioned as Redbeilgill in a document.
