Robin of the Wood is a computer game from 1985 that was programmed and published by the British software company Odin Computer Graphics . It is based on the legend of Robin Hood .

The player takes on the role of Robin, son of Aleric. Aleric was the patron of the Silver Arrow . The Sheriff of Nottingham killed Aleric and took the arrow. The player now has the task of getting the arrow back. It is the day of the great archery tournament on which Robin must manage to break into the sheriff's castle. Before doing this, he has to bring an Ent three sacks of gold in exchange for his bow, sword and three magic arrows. The gold is found in the possession of the evil Bishop of Peterborough , who is guarded by Norman archers.

Gameplay

The player steers the hero through a maze, which includes the Sherwood Forest , the dungeons of the castle of the Sheriff of Nottingham and the castle itself. The labyrinth is displayed screen by screen. If the player leaves a side of the screen that is not bordered by trees or walls, the picture changes to a new location. The game consists of 330 of these different locations. In his search, the player encounters various opponents who have to be avoided or who have to be fought. The player can collect various items such as extra lives, arrows or flowers. The flowers can be given to the sporadic witches who do not send the player to the dungeon.
