Robust M 301 (* 1912 ; † after 1922 ) was a famous breeding boar of the Meissen pig .

He comes from the line M 10, which was founded by the boar Rabe, born in 1885, of the breeder Möbius from Mischwitz . Robust 301 was born on December 13, 1912 on the farm of the landlord Kirchner in Birkenhain . Kirchner sold it to the landowner Kretzschmar in Ziegenhain , who sold it to a manor and breeder in Gödelitz for 4,000 marks in 1920 . Robust M 301 was used for breeding until 1922.

He was seen as the embodiment of the breeding goal and also as a “typical representative of the refined country pig ”: He convinced “with a dry head, large floppy ears, a firm back and broad, deep chest, good legs and very good hair. He gave all these qualities to his children ”.

In 1914 Robust M 301 received the first honorary prize at the DLG exhibition in Hanover and a 1b prize at the pig show in Dresden in 1920. Two years later he won another first prize at another exhibition in Dresden. He covered on various farms and had a lasting influence on pig breeding during his ten years of breeding use.

Of the ten boar lines in the 1930s that influenced Saxon pig breeding, only one had native roots besides the Robust line. The other eight boar lines were only established a few years later and imported from Westphalia and Hanover. In 1928, Georg Claus named Robust M 301 as one of eight boars in his investigation of the main bloodlines in the Saxon refined pig breeding, which "were used in the country and are still represented in the majority of all breeds today by father and mother animals".
