Gödelitz is a district of the town of Döbeln in the Saxon district of Central Saxony . Until December 31, 2015 Gödelitz belonged to Mochau , which was then incorporated.

Historical

The Vorwerk, recorded in 1539, was raised to a manor in 1764. For a long time, from 1773 to 1917, it was owned by the von Zehmen family , who had the manor house built in 1860. In the 19th century, Ludwig von Zehmen inherited the Gödelitz manor from his father. In 1917 the manor came to Max Schmidt, who had it expanded into a model operation.

The place name goes back to the Old Sorbian word Jedlica , which comes from jedla . Jedla means "fir tree". So Jedlica is a place in the fir trees. It can be assumed that at the time of the foundation there was a coniferous forest near the locality. In the Middle Ages, the "J" became a "G" and the "e" became an "ö".

1945

The Schmidt family was expropriated in 1945 and bought the property back in 1998.

Todays use

Since 2008 the mansion has been used as a residential building and by a non-partisan association ost-west-forum Gut Gödelitz eV . The association was founded by Axel Schmidt-Gödelitz (* 1942). The old buildings were converted accordingly, in 2006 a seminar and conference center was opened in the old sheep farm, which can accommodate up to 300 people.
