history
During archaeological excavations in the course of road construction work in 2008 and 2009, late Neolithic house floor plans were unearthed, which belong to the spherical amphora culture (around 3000 BC) and are of outstanding importance for the western area of distribution of this Neolithic cultural area in Saxony.
The village was first mentioned indirectly as Jertitz in a document in 1292. The name goes back to an Old Sorbian personal name and means settlement of a Jerota or Jarota .
The history of Gärtitz is closely linked to the manor house, which was mentioned in a document as early as 1292. The manor belonged to the Saxon aristocratic family Marschall von Mockritz before it came into the possession of the Meissen noble family von Polentz in 1469 . Fritzsche von Polentz went down in history in 1478 as the bailiff in Döbeln. Owned by the aristocratic family of Polentz it remained until the Aufsiedelung of the manor in 1933. The manor belonged to the Vorwerk Pommlitz and Gutsdörfer Großbauchlitz , Zschepplitz and Niederranschütz .
On July 1, 1950, Gärtitz was incorporated into Döbeln.
