The Roc Oil Company Limited (ROC) is an Australian company in the oil and gas industry, the deposits, especially in the deep sea, in the UK ( North Sea ), Australia , New Zealand , Africa ( Mauritania , Guinea , Angola , Madagascar ) and China explored and exploits. Assessments, analyzes and services are also provided for the petroleum industry. The company is one of the largest oil companies in Australia and the focus of the company's activities is in the Australian-Chinese region. The company is based in Sydney on Market Street and - according to the company - employs 200 people from 24 countries who speak 16 languages.

The name of the oil company is said to come from the mythical Roc, a hybrid between elephant, snake and bird from the Arab fairy tale Thousand and One Nights .

history

The company was founded in 1997 as a privately held company and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1999 with shares of $ 150 million and on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) on the London Stock Exchange in 2004. Roc Oil is broadly positioned both economically and geographically thanks to its production and reservoir research. It should be a company that stands out from other competitors through particularly successful mineral exploration and its subsequent successful and effective exploitation. Roc Oil took over Anzon Australia Limited (AEL) in 2008 after acquiring more than 90 percent of the shares and securing large oil and gas reserves on and offshore on the coast of Victoria .

Roc Oil is active in the international oil market, where business is done in US dollars, and works with countries that are members of OPEC as well as with others that are not.
