The Rock Pile Point ( English for cairn headland ) is a headland on the Bowman coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It forms the eastern branch of the Bermel Peninsula .
The headland was photographed and roughly mapped during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). The participants of the research trip gave the entire peninsula the descriptive name that was transferred to the object described here by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 1965 .
