The rock formation Diskokugel is a German music group.

history

Since their formation in 1997 in the northern English city of Salford , the band has played with the same line-up. All band members come from the Rhein-Main area . Mathias Hill, Magnus Schmerfeld and Stefan Noll already played together in the bands Die Busfahrer and The Scamps .

Since 2003, the rock formation Diskokugel has been combining band friendship with the Fehlfarben , which is expressed in mutual support and guest appearances. For example, Fehlfarben singer Peter Hein took part in No One Likes Us and appeared as a guest singer when the rock formation performed.

In 2007 the rock formation had a rotary hit with the Austrian radio station FM4 with the song “Youngsters”, which also landed on its top ten CD compilation “FM-4-Sound-Selection”.

In spring 2009 the band took part in the tribute sampler Alle gegen Alle - A Tribute to Slime , alongside the bands Die Toten Hosen and Kreator , with Hey Lutz! the opener. The song became popular because of this as well as the video clip by theater director Lutz Keßler and can also be found on the album Together, on the other hand , which was released in 2009.

In the years that followed, the rock formation attracted attention sporadically, for example with the vinyl single Der Chef , before the album The Boy With The Zorn In His Side , which took three years of work, was released in 2012 . The title alludes to a song by the former English band The Smiths and was controversially discussed in Smiths fan forums. Like its predecessor, the album was created in close cooperation with the Düsseldorf producer Kurt Dahlke ( Pyrolator ). Another video clip was created for the preliminary single Der Tag mit Sid Vicious , this time filmed in stop-motion technology under the aegis of directors Uwe Neumeyer and Andrej Kroh. The album song Bury Them Deep is a cover version of the song of the same name by the English underground band The Weather Prophets .
