ROCKS - The magazine for Classic Rock is an eight-weekly music magazine from ROCKS Media Verlag , based in Cologne . The first edition appeared in June 2007 with a circulation of 20,000 copies, since then the magazine, with a focus on traditional rock music and classic rock, has more than doubled its circulation. The current circulation is around 50,000 copies, which are sold in Germany , Austria , Luxembourg , Switzerland , Spain , Italy , Belgium , the Netherlands , Denmark and Sweden . The booklets are available in retail outlets and by subscription . The information community for determining the distribution of advertising media (IVW) determined 25,618 copies sold per issue in quarter 4/2013, almost 8,000 copies more than according to IVW Rock Hard. The reach of ROCKS is estimated at 65,113 readers per issue.

The aim of the founders was " to build a high-quality print magazine for rock music that is perceived as a real alternative to existing titles with a strong youth and trend focus." The magazine is aimed at a readership over thirty years of age.

Issue contents

Rocks deals with all genres of classic rock music: blues , rock , singer-songwriter and hard rock . Each issue contains detailed reading sections on the respective topics, as well as interviews , reviews and concert reviews. Sections such as “Inexplicable phenomena - rock classics that didn't become”, “Heroes over Heroes” (musicians write about the products of their role models) or “Perlentaucher” (presentation of special albums by individual artists) loosen up the individual issues.

In addition, the “Collector's Guide” section is part of every issue, in which albums by well-known artists are rated according to whether or not they are worthwhile for the collection of interested readers. There are also series of articles on specific topics, for example reports on well-known music producers under the title “Producer Icons” . Each issue includes a CD with titles from the latest Classic Rock publications.

Publisher and editor in chief is the Dipl. - Media economist Daniel Böhm , who for Metal Hammer and Rock Hard wrote. The text editing and proofreading headed Mike Seifert, the editorial culture, DVD and book is by Matthias Penzel looked after.
