Matthias Penzel

Matthias Penzel (* 1966 in Mainz ) is a German writer and journalist.

Penzel spent his childhood in Strasbourg , Kaiserslautern and Ludwigshafen am Rhein . He studied philosophy, German literature and sociology in Cologne and then lived in London for ten years . In addition to journalistic articles for the Frankfurter Rundschau , the music magazine Rocks and the English-language edition of the music magazine Rolling Stone , Penzel writes novels. He went to London as a correspondent for the trade journal Musikmagazin , where he wrote for Wired , the BBC and became editor-in-chief of Kerrang in 1992 ! , later F1 Racing . After radio plays and activities in the online area, he was responsible for the German-language version of Octane from 2012 to 2016 .

Penzel is single, has two children and has lived in Berlin since 2001 .
