Rodney A. Grant

Rodney Arnold Grant (* 9. March 1959 in the Pine Ridge Reservation , South Dakota , USA ) is an American actor, the great fame in the role of "Wind In His Hair" in the movie Dances with Wolves gained .

Life

The member of the Omaha tribe was raised by his grandparents with his four older siblings and grew up in Thurston County, Nebraska . After a brief six-month service with the US Marines and six years as a reservist , he made his debut in the 1988 film The Young Warriors . Since then he has played in various films and television series, such as Ein Mountie in Chicago or Stargate - Kommando SG-1 .

In 1990 he had his biggest role to date as "Wind in His Hair" in Dances with Wolves . While filming, Grant had great difficulty learning the Lakota language. In order not to be cut entirely from the film or to end up as a mere extra role, he took additional hours with the film's casting director .

Grant was involved in the organization Boys and Girls Clubs of America . In its partner organization Boys and Girls Clubs in Indian Country he is now an advisory board member.

Private

Grant is married and has three daughters and one son. The daughters live with their mother, Grant's first wife. Grant lives with his second wife Lee-Anne and their son Walter.

Awards

Grant received the Western Heritage Award for his portrayal in Dances with Wolf . In 1991 he was named one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People Magazine .
