Rodolfo González Rissotto

Luis Rodolfo González Rissotto (born October 7, 1949 in Montevideo ; † March 28, 2020 there ) was a Uruguayan politician .

Rodolfo González Rissotto took courses at the law and social science faculty of the Universidad de la República . He completed his training as a historian at the Instituto de Profesores Artigas . He was professor for the comparison of electoral systems and national electoral law (“Sistemas y Derecho Electoral Nacional y Comparado”) at the “Centro de Altos Estudios Nacionales”. He was also a corresponding member of the Academia Paraguaya de la Historia and an honorary member of the Instituto Brasilero de Derecho Electoral (IBRADE). González Rissotto, who belonged to the Partido Nacional , was director of the electoral research department at the Centro para la Democracia Uruguaya (CELADU) from 1985 to 1990 , which cooperated with Germany. González Rissotto held the position of Director Nacional de Educación , the national director for education, from 1990 to 1993 . In the same period he was also the President of the National Commission for Adult Education ("Comisión Nacional de Educación de Adultos"). From 1993 to 1995 he was State Secretary and Deputy Minister in the Uruguayan Defense Ministry. After all, from February 15, 1995 to March 1, 1995, he held the office of Minister of Defense. From 1996 to 2010 he was Minister at the Corte Electoral .

González Rissotto was married to the historian Susana Rodríguez Varese. With this he had a son named Leandro Rodolfo.

He died on March 28, 2020 at the age of 70 as a result of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
