Rodolfo Sotelo

Rodolfo Sotelo (born April 17, 1952 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican football coach and former player on the position of defender .

Life

Rodolfo Sotelo Esparza was demonstrably under contract with CD Zacatepec between 1975 and 1985 , for which he completed a total of 217 games in the Mexican Primera División during this period , scoring five goals. In addition, he played in the aforementioned period for the Cañeros two seasons (1977/78 and 1983/84) in the second Mexican division .

After finishing his active career, Sotelo struck a career as a coach and worked together with his former teammate at Zacatepec, Felipe Ocampo , in the Clausura 2003 at the Colibríes de Cuernavaca . Sotelo and Ocampo were initially assistant coaches under Sergio Rubio and after his departure four game days before the end of the season, they jointly took over the relegation-threatened team. In the first game, the coaching duo achieved a 1-1 draw against the traditional club Atlante in front of their home crowd . The second game ended with a 1-0 away win against the relegation-threatened Jaguares de Chiapas , before the first defeat (1: 3) had to be accepted in the third game (away at Monarcas Morelia ). The last game of the season against the capital city club Cruz Azul ended goalless in front of a home crowd and would have meant relegation if the Jaguares had not won 1-0 against Tecos de la UAG with a late goal in the 84th minute . As a result, however, the Colibríes had to start their way into the second-rate Primera División 'A' after only six months of membership in the first division .

Despite this failure, Sotelo and Ocampo continued to work together and coached the fourth division team Deportivo Galeana together in 2009 .
