Rogero di Puglia
Rogero di Puglia (* 1201/1205 ?, Torre Magiore , Puglia , Italy ; † April 14, 1266 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop of Spalato (now Split , Croatia), historian and author between April 30, 1249 and his death by Carmen Miserabilae .
After completing his theological studies in Rome, he worked as a chaplain in the service of Cardinal Giacomo Pecorari (1170-1244). In 1232 he accompanied his cardinal on an apostolic mission to the Kingdom of Hungary, where he became archdeacon of the Roman Catholic diocese of Oradea . There he experienced the Mongol storm and described this happening in Carmen Miserabilae . On April 30, 1249 he was appointed Archbishop of Spalato by Pope Innocent IV through the mediation of Cardinal Giovanni Tolentanus .
