The Diocese of Oradea Mare ( Latin Dioecesis Magnovaradinensis Latinorum ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Romania .

history

It was founded in 1077 as the Latin diocese Magnovaradinensis Latinorum . Its first bishop was Bishop Koloman in 1091. On June 5, 1930 under Pope Pius XI. the diocese Oradea Mare - Gran Varadino ( German  Großwardein ), ( Hungarian Nagyvárad ) was united with the diocese Satu Mare ( German and Yiddish Sathmar , Hungarian Szatmárnémeti ). Under Pope Pius XII. the association was canceled on June 28, 1941. On April 9, 1948, the new merger took place, which Pope John Paul II ended with his Apostolic Constitution of October 18, 1982. The bishopric is Oradea .

In Oradea Mare there is also the Greek Catholic eparchy Oradea Mare .
