Rogers & Wells was founded in New York in 1873 . After a few name changes, the firm was named after William P. Rogers and Jack Wells. It employed up to 400 lawyers and had offices in New York, Washington, DC , Los Angeles , Paris , London , Hong Kong and Frankfurt .
In 2000 it merged with Clifford Chance and Pünder, Volhard, Weber & Axster and kept the name Clifford Chance Roger & Wells in the USA until 2003 . Shortly before and after the merger, they left several partners , including Kayle Scholer . The partners in Paris switched to Kramer Levin .
Fields of activity
Rogers & Wells was known for its litigation department. The law firm was also active in the international financial market. Merrill Lynch Bank was its largest customer in this area .
