Kenneth Chenault (born June 2, 1951 in Long Island , New York ) is an American manager .

Life

After attending a Waldorf school, Chenault studied history at Bowdoin College and law at Harvard Law School . After graduating, he worked for the law firms Rogers & Wells in New York City, and then with Bain & Company . In 1997 he succeeded Harvey Golub as President and in 2001 CEO of the American company American Express . In 2009, Chenault received an annual salary of $ 17.4 million. Chenault is married to Kathryn Chenault.

In 2006 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . In March 2020, he was nominated to the Berkshire Hathaway Board of Directors .
