Rohtas
The fortress of Rohtas ( Urdu قلعۂ روہتاس qilʿa-yi Rohtās ) in the north of today's Pakistan , Punjab was commissioned by Sher Shah in 1541 as a complex of massive defensive structures.
The main fortifications are formed by massive walls over four kilometers long, which are pierced by monumental gates. Various bastions are located within these walls .
Since the complex was never taken, it has been preserved almost intact to this day. The fortress of Rohtas is therefore one of the most important examples of the beginnings of Islamic military architecture in Asia.
Since 1997, the fortress is one of the UNESCO - World Heritage Site .
