Roco Žarnić

Roko Žarnić (born April 9, 1950 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian civil engineer and politician.

Life

He studied at the University of Ljubljana , where he received his doctorate in 1992 . He worked as a researcher at the Institute for Materials and Structural Research (ZRMK) and taught as an assistant professor from 1993 and as a full professor at the University of Ljubljana since 2009. His specialty is the earthquake resistance of buildings.

As the successor to the resigned Karl Erjavec , Žarnić became Minister for Environment and Spatial Planning in the cabinet of Borut Pahor in February 2010 . He is a member of the Democratic Pensioners Party of Slovenia .
