Roland Brandl

Roland Brandl (born September 3, 1956 ) is a German biologist and professor of ecology at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Roland Brandl studied biology at the University of Bayreuth until 1982 and submitted his doctorate there in 1986. Since 2001 he has been Professor of Animal Ecology in Marburg.

Roland Brandl heads the animal ecology group in the Faculty of Biology. The focus of his personal research is the biology and ecology of termites . His working group works on the structure and dynamics of areas (macroecological approaches), structure and biological diversity in communities in processes at the local and regional level and on the effects and interactions of alien species in native communities ( neobiota ). In addition, the animal ecologists in Marburg deal with the population genetics and population biology of running water organisms ( limnology ).
