Roland Demmer (born October 27, 1957 in Halle / Saale ) was a soccer player in the area of ​​the GDR soccer association . In its highest division, the GDR Oberliga , he played for Chemie Leipzig and Chemie Buna Schkopau .

Demmer began to play organized soccer in Trotha in 1963 with the company sports association (BSG) Empor. From there he moved to the youth department of Halleschen FC Chemie , the region’s football center. There he went through all the youth teams up to the junior league . In order to complete his military service, Demmer, who had meanwhile also completed his training as a fitter, joined the Police Sports Association Dynamo Eisleben on July 1, 1977 , and played football there in the second-rate GDR league .

After completing his military service, the 1.76 m tall Demmer moved to the league promoted chemical Leipzig at the beginning of the 1979/80 season. There he played four times in the first team, played three point games and one cup game. He also played five times with the youth team in the junior league. He was used both in midfield and in defense.

In the summer of 1980 Demmer went to the GDR league club Chemie Buna Schkopau. There he was able to assert himself as a regular player, was only missing in one of the 30 league games and scored once as a defensive player. Schkopau ended the 1980/81 season surprisingly as a climber in the league. There Demmer developed into a top performer, played almost continuously as a right defender, scored one goal and only missed one point game. As a defender he was also responsible for the fact that his team had the worst goal difference of all 14 league teams with 21:77 goals at the end of the season and had to be relegated to the second division after only one year as bottom of the table. Demmer still played two seasons for Schkopau in the GDR league, but ended his career in Schkopau after the first half of the 1983/84 season.

From the beginning of 1984 Demmer played for the GDR league club BSG Glückauf Sondershausen . In 1987 he had to relegate Sondershausen to the district league, and in 1988 an Achilles tendon injury ended his career as a competitive athlete. He then became a trainer at BSG Glückauf, which in 1991 was restructured into BSV Eintracht. Demmer stayed with the BSV coach until 2001, where he last looked after the amateur league team . From 2005 to 2009 he was a sporting director on the club's board.
