Roland Hoffmann (theologian)

Roland Hoffmann (born May 14, 1938 in Brieg ) is a Lutheran theologian and emeritus bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia .

Career

Roland Hoffmann worked as a pastor in the parish of Großbreitenbach from 1965 to 1976 . In 1976 he took over the position of superintendent of the superintendent Dermbach in the Thuringian Rhön, before he was appointed senior church councilor for the supervisory district south (district church office Meiningen ) of the Thuringian regional church in 1988 .

In 1992 Hoffmann was elected as successor to Werner Leich as regional bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia (official seat: Eisenach ) and was in office as such until his retirement in 2001. His successor was Christoph Kähler .
