Roland Müller (painter)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roland "Eddie" Müller (born February 14, 1969 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian painter . He belongs to the artist group of Fantastic Realists and Surrealists . Furthermore, his paintings and drawings mainly describe erotic dream worlds.

Career

Müller was born as the third of four children of the artist Maria Tischberger in Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria. He is married to the musician Brigitte Müller and has two children who are also artistically active.

He studied life drawing and acrylic painting for two semesters with Heide Voitl in Linz and took private lessons with Christine Hirschberg from 2008 to 2012. This was followed by lessons with Jürgen Grazzi and painting seminars with Michael Maschka. Otherwise he is self-taught . Müller lives and works in Linz on the Danube, Upper Austria. His studio is in Ebelsberg . He has also been working under the English pseudonym Edward Miller since the beginning of 2003.

Based on numerous sketches, which mainly consist of charcoal, pastel chalk and some pencil drawings, his works show fantastic, expressive, at times surreal worlds that are mainly kept in darker shades of color.

Project shilling for shilling

In addition to his art, he is also involved in the Schilling for Schilling association . For this purpose he made a charity picture on which celebrities from music, film and art could immortalize themselves until the presentation in Casino Linz. The highlight of this project was an invitation from the painter Ernst Fuchs to the Fuchsvilla in Vienna, where Fuchs signed a painted picture on the benefit picture.

Works and exhibitions

In addition to the central Upper Austrian region, Müller's works were also exhibited in the other federal states of Austria, such as Vienna and Salzburg, but also in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Spain, France and the USA. In 2016 he was awarded the Honorary Prize of the European Art Circle France in Paris.

Müller is friends with the artists Lukas-Johannes and Matthias-Claudius Aigner (sons of the Linz artist Fritz Aigner ), Jolanda Richter, Peter Gric, Juan Ramirez and Georg Schell.

European Art Fest

One of his successes is the European Art Fest , which he initiated himself and held for the first time in April 2007 in Lichtenberg with 29 participants. Less well-known artists from different countries are invited to this project; it takes place every two years.

The 2009 festival at Volkshaus Bindermichl, again with 29 artists, was very successful for individual artists, and so Müller decided to repeat it in 2011. Since the Volkshaus Bindermichl did not quite meet his expectations either, another location was sought. The event has been taking place in the Volkshaus Keferfeld-Oed since 2011.

In 2015 the European Art Fest was dominated by Fritz Aigner , a painter from Linz. There were a total of 36 artists from Germany, Switzerland, France, the Czech Republic and Austria; an artist from Australia also took part.
