Rolando Navarrete (born February 14, 1957 in General Santos , Philippines ) is a former Filipino boxer and southpaw .
professional
He went undefeated in his first nine fights. On February 15, 1975, he won the Philippines Games & Amusement Board Title in bantamweight . He also secured this belt on August 19, 1978 in the featherweight division . In April 1980, he boxed against Alexis Arguello for the WBC World Championship in the super featherweight and failed.
Against Cornelius Boza Edwards he competed again for the WBC world championship in super featherweight at the end of August 1981 and won in the 5th round by knockout. He defended this belt in January 1982 against Chung-Il Choi and inflicted his first defeat on him at the same time . At the end of May 1982 he had to admit defeat to the Mexican Rafael Limón and was thus rid of the belt.
