Role Play Convention
The Role Play Convention ( RPC ) was an annual fair in Cologne for games with fantastic themes . The organizer is Enjoy Event Marketing GmbH .
history
The first event took place in Münster in 2007 , and 12,000 visitors came. In 2008, 23,500 people visited the fair, making it the largest of its kind in Europe. Due to the strong popularity, the Koelnmesse was chosen as the venue from 2009 .
In October 2018 Koelnmesse GmbH announced that the Role Play Convention will be integrated into the Comic Con Experience Cologne in 2019 and will therefore no longer take place as an independent trade fair.

Special features and program
The RPC is a public and sales fair where products can be presented, tested and played. All types of games and entertainment media that can be assigned to the genre of fantasy in the broadest sense are presented . From the computer game , console game over board games , pen - & - paper role-playing games , LARP up to fantastic literature , comic books , medieval music and movies as well as a medieval market , everything is represented. The genre of fantasy here includes classic fantasy , science fiction , mystery but also manga and anime as well as many other subgenres. There are free play areas for exhibitors and the public. There will also be stage programs, workshops and readings.
The RPC Fantasy Award is presented in several categories , an audience award in which the winners are determined through an open Internet vote.
A special feature of the fair is that many visitors appear in costumes as characters from the genres mentioned above - as cosplayers .
