Rolf Lehmann (politician)

Rolf Lehmann (born May 12, 1937 ) is a German SPD politician and was the economic mayor of Stuttgart .

Life

Lehmann initially trained as a typesetter . He then worked as a youth and education officer at the Evangelical Church. He headed the Evangelical Youth Office in Stuttgart for ten years. In 1976 he became a consultant for church education. In 1971 he was elected for the first time for the SPD in the municipal council of the state capital Stuttgart.

In 1976 Lehmann took over the chairmanship of the SPD parliamentary group in the local council. In 1985 the local council elected him economic mayor. In 1992, Lehmann moved to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs as Ministerial Director . With the state elections in 1996 , Lehmann retired.

During his time as mayor of the economy, he was primarily involved in housing construction. He also chaired the supervisory boards of the exhibition company , the Stuttgart housing and urban development company and the port company . 1997 to 2000 Lehmann was involved in the "Future Commission Society 2000" of the state government. From 1998 to 2004 he was the honorary chairman of the Evangelical Youth Office in Württemberg .

Honors

In 2001 Lehmann received the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit . In 2004 this was followed by the highest award for Protestant youth in Germany, the Golden Ball Cross .
