Rolf D. Mahnken

Rolf Mahnken (born December 3, 1957 in Zeven ) is a German engineer , scientist and professor at the University of Paderborn .

biography

Mahnken attended St. Viti High School in Zeven until 1976 . After studying engineering at the University of Hanover, he obtained a master's degree in Numerical Analysis from Brunel University London , Uxbridge, England in 1986. In 1992 he received his doctorate at the University of Hanover with a dissertation on the subject of dual methods for nonlinear optimization problems in structural mechanics . In 1996 he completed his habilitation at the University of Hanover with a thesis on theoretical and numerical aspects for parameter identification and modeling in metallic materials .

From 1986 to 1997 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Hanover and at the Division of Solid Mechanics, Chalmers University of Technology , Gothenburg, Sweden. In the years 1997–1999 he took on a substitute professorship for materials science at the University of Hanover and then worked in the department for calculation and development at a company in Switzerland in the gas turbine industry.

In November 2002 he was appointed professor of mechanics at the University of Paderborn . As a university lecturer and scientist, he treated there, the issues of mechanics of materials , continuum mechanics , inverse problems and associated numerical methods .
