Rolf Thommes (born February 21, 1944 ) is a former German soccer player . The left winger played a Bundesliga game at TSV 1860 Munich in the 1963/64 season . From 1964 to 1973 there were 223 league games with 54 goals in the second -rate regional soccer league at the clubs SSV Reutlingen and SSV Jahn Regensburg .

Career

The 19-year-old offensive talent moved from SpVgg Lindau in the 1st Amateur League Black Forest-Bodensee to TSV 1860 Munich in the new Bundesliga in 1963 . Munich had qualified as champions of the Oberliga Süd 1962/63 for the first season of the Bundesliga. With Peter Grosser (FC Bayern Munich), Engelbert Kraus (Kickers Offenbach), Otto Luttrop (Westfalia Herne) and the former amateur soccer player Thommes strengthened the team of coach Max Merkel in 1860 . On the first match day, August 24, 1963, the man from Lindau made his debut in a 1-1 home debut against Eintracht Braunschweig . Together with Peter Grosser, he formed the left wing of the "Löwen". In the further course of the lap, Thommes was not used again. He could not prevail against the other attacking players such as Rudolf Brunnenmeier , Alfred Heiss , Engelbert Kraus, Hans Auernhammer , Hans Rebele and Werner Anzill . After the season he joined the regional league team of SSV Reutlingen 05 .

In his first season, 1964/65, he became a regular in coach Georg Wurzer's team . He completed 36 games in which he scored 15 goals; He was the second top scorer of the SSV team behind center forward Knut Tagliaferri (34 games - 21 goals), followed by Herbert Ammer with 14 goals. The attacking game in Reutlingen was clearly livened up by the winger. In the final table, Bayern Munich took second place. In the subsequent round of promotion, second place was again taken, this time behind Borussia Mönchengladbach , which made the promotion. Thommes had been active in five games and scored one goal. In the 1967/68 season , Reutlingen took third place again, after which Thommes and his teammates could not build on the success of the first year. He played a total of 129 regional league games for Reutlingen from 1964 to 1969, in which he scored 38 goals.

In 1969 he moved to league rivals SSV Jahn Regensburg , for whom he scored eight goals in 31 games in the Regionalliga Süd 1969/70. After three years (in the last one, relegation could be avoided by one point), Thommes returned to SSV Reutlingen after 39 further regional league appearances (6 goals). In the 1972/73 season was 17th place, which meant relegation from the regional league. Thommes scored two goals for Reutlingen in 24 games this season. Overall, he played in the Regionalliga Süd for Reutlingen in 153 league games with 40 goals, and for Regensburg in 70 league games with 14 goals.
