Rolf Ziegler (athlete)

Rolf Ziegler (born January 17, 1951 in Stuttgart ) is a former German athlete and Olympic participant who won the silver medal at the 1974 European Championships with the 4 x 400 meter relay of the Federal Republic (3: 03.5 min: Rolf Ziegler , Hermann Köhler , Horst-Rüdiger Schlöske , Karl Honz ). In the 400 meter hurdles of these European Championships, he finished eighth (50.49 s). He was student world champion in 1975 over 400 meter hurdles and German double champion in 1976 over 110 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles.

He also started at the 1972 Olympic Games in the 400-meter hurdles and was eliminated there in the intermediate run.

Best time over the 400 meter hurdles: 49.55 s (1972), which is still the Baden-Württemberg record.

Rolf Ziegler belonged to the sports club SKV Eglosheim . Together with Heiner Beck, Wolfgang Scheuber and Günter Meinhardt, he still holds the club record of SKV Ludwigsburg over the 4 x 100 meter relay, which is 40.88 s and was set up at the German Championships in Stuttgart in 1971. In his playing days he was 1.88 m tall and weighed 79 kg.
