Roloff's magnificent perch ( Pelvicachromis roloffi ) is a cichlid from West Africa . The species was first described in 1968 by Dirk Thys van den Audenaerde as Pelmatochromis roloffi . The species epithet is named after the aquarist Erhard Roloff (1903–1980) from Karlsruhe .

Occurrence and habitat

Roloff's magnificent perch is found in the coastal area of ​​West Africa. It inhabits the coastal strip from Liberia ( Sierra Leone ) to Guinea . The water temperature is 25–28 ° C, and the water is relatively soft (8 ° dH ).

The male is about 8.5 cm long while the female is only 6 cm long. Often these fish have colored patterns consisting of spots along the dorsal fin. These spots are very variable, but not a gender characteristic .

Reproduction
