Theodor Ross
Theodor Roß (born August 23, 1864 in Cologne ; † September 6, 1930 ibid) was an architect who mainly built churches in the Cologne area around the turn of the century . He had been working as a private architect since the 1890s and had specialized in sacred buildings, but from 1913 switched to the residential construction division, working for the Cologne Erbbauverein, among others.
Life
Theodor Roß was the son of the architect Peter Roß and his wife Katharina (née Kruchen). On September 6, 1890, he married Gertrud Schmitz, who was a daughter of the Cologne cathedral master craftsman and later Strasbourg cathedral master builder Franz Schmitz . From this marriage there were six children, two sons and four daughters. Theodor Roß died on September 6, 1930 after a brief, serious illness and was buried in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne . His grave remains as an honor grave. At the time of his death was Theodor Ross member of the Church Council of the Cologne community St. Gereon . His estate was in the historical archive of the city of Cologne .

On October 13, 2013, the parish church was profaned and completely demolished on January 8 and 9, 2018, as it had to give way to the Garzweiler opencast mine . As a replacement, a small chapel was built according to plans by Johannes Klomp at the Immerath (new) resettlement site in 2013/14. |
