Romain Fornell
Romain Fornell (born December 27, 1976 in Toulouse ) is a French chef.
Career
After completing his apprenticeship in 1994, Fornell cooked for Gérard Garrigues in Toulouse. In 1996 he went to Barcelona for La Maison du Languedoc Rousillon with Jean-François Férrié. In 1997 he returned to France to work with Michel Sarran in Toulouse and then Alain Ducasse in Paris .
In 2000 he opened the Chaldette restaurant in La Lozère, which received a Michelin star in 2001.
In 2002 he returned to Barcelona, where he has lived ever since, to run the Diana restaurant at Hotel Ritz (now Hotel El Palace). In 2004 the Diana was renamed to Caelis and became independent of the hotel. In 2005 the Caelis was awarded a Michelin star.
In 2006 Caelis won the Restaurant of the Year award given by the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy. In 2011 he and his former mentor Michel Sarran opened the Bistro Cafe Emma in the center of Barcelona. Romain also started other gastronomic projects in Barcelona, such as Café Turo , Épicerie and Joël of the Oyster Bar his gastronomic projects in Barcelona.
