Roman Kotliński (born March 15, 1967 in Koło ) is a Polish politician, author, publisher and former Catholic priest.

Life

1986 to 1989 he studied at the seminary in Włocławek, after a year off he went to the seminary in Łódź . On March 7, 1993 he successfully completed his master's degree at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw . On June 12, 1993 he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Łódź . He then worked as a priest in various parishes in the archdiocese. In 1996 he gave up his office.

He founded the company Glass-Plast, which manufactured plastic products. Since the company was making slow progress, he began to write the book Byłem księdzem ( I was a priest ) published in 1997 under the pseudonym “Roman Jonasz” . Since no publisher could be found, he decided to print the book himself. Sales were slow, so he brought it to Warsaw to sell directly to the local wholesaler. An interview with the tabloid Super Express brought him the attention of the Polish and even the German press. Instead of the original 10,000 copies, he sold around 600,000. In 2000, he began publishing the anti-clerical weekly Fakty i Mity ( Facts and Myths ). He was a member of the Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej ( Federation of Democratic Left ) for several years and in 2002 was one of the founders of the Antyklerykalna Partia Postępu RACJA ( Anti-Clerical Party of Progress ). Kotliński was its chairman until April 4, 2003.

In the 2011 parliamentary elections , he stood in constituency 9 Łódź for the list of Ruch Palikota. With 17,720 votes, he was able to win a mandate for the Sejm . In 2016, the Polish public prosecutor brought charges, including attempted incitement to murder his wife and several fraud and embezzlement offenses. In 2018 he was sentenced to 10 years in camera in camera.
