Vedat Albayrak , formerly Roman Moustopoulos , (born Wano Rewazischwili on 2. March 1993 in Kokshetau , Kazakhstan ) is a Turkish judoka . In 2018 he was third in the world championships in the weight class up to 81 kilograms.

Career

The Georgian born in Kazakhstan began his sporting career as Roman Moustopoulos in Greece. In 2009 he was fifth in the weight class up to 66 kilograms at both the European Cadet Championships and the World Cadet Championships. In 2013 he was Junior European Champion and won a bronze medal in the weight class up to 73 kilograms at the Junior World Championships. At the end of 2013 he won the Greek championship title in the weight class up to 81 kilograms, after having won the title in the class up to 73 kilograms in 2010.

At the European Championships in 2014, he was defeated in the quarter-finals by the Georgian Awtandil Tschrikishvili and ultimately finished fifth. At the end of 2014 he won the U23 European Championships. 2015 he parted with under the 2015 European Games discharged in Baku European Championships in his first fight against the Israeli Chen Asaf out. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Roman Moustopoulos retired from El Salvador after two penalties in his first fight against Juan Diego Turcios .

From 2018 Vedat Albayrak started under its new name for Turkey. At the end of 2018, Albayrak finished third at the Grand Slam tournament in Osaka and the Masters tournament in Guangzhou. In 2019, the European Championships were held as part of the 2019 European Games in Minsk, Albayrak was eliminated in the round of 16 against the British Stuart McWatt . At the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo, he lost his first fight to the Georgian Luka Maisuradze . In October he reached the final of the Grand Slam tournament in Brasília and then lost to the Japanese Takanori Nagase . At the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi , he finished third, just like at the Masters tournament in Qingdao.
