Roman Ondák (born August 5, 1966 in Žilina , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak artist and performer of conceptual art .

Life

Ondák studied at the University of Fine Arts in Bratislava ( Vysoká škola výtvarných umení v Bratislave ) and in Italy, the United States and Switzerland. He established himself in the art world for the first time after the fall of the Wall in Czechoslovakia and specializes in drawings and room installations.

Ondák lives and works in Bratislava .

Exhibitions

Over the years he has exhibited his works in the Central Slovak Gallery in Banská Bystrica, the National Gallery in Prague in the Czech Republic, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Tate Modern in London (2006), Modern Art Oxford in Oxford, Venice Biennale (1999 , 2003, 2009, 2011), the Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest, the Gallery for Contemporary Art in Leipzig, the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich (2007) and other galleries in German-speaking countries.

Honourings and prices

In 2012, Ondák was selected by Deutsche Bank as artist of the year and his work do not walk outside this area was exhibited in the Deutsche Guggenheim .

2018 Awarding of the Lovis Corinth Prize and exhibition Based on True Events in the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie in Regensburg.
