Roman Schmid (politician, 1969)

Roman Schmid (born September 25, 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). On January 24, 2019, he was sworn in as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

Life

education and profession

After primary school and the integrated comprehensive school in Vienna, Roman Schmid attended the commercial branch of the higher federal teaching and research institute for the textile industry . After completing his military service , he began studying law at the University of Vienna . Roman Schmid works independently in sports and event management.

politics

He began his political career in 2005 as a district councilor in Vienna - Liesing , and from 2010 to 2015 he was club chairman of the FPÖ-Liesing. After the district representative election in Vienna in 2015 , he was elected as district chairman- deputy in Liesing in November 2015 , from September 2016 to September 2017 he was also the executive district party chairman of the FPÖ-Liesing, whose chairman he has been since 2017.

On January 24, 2019, he was sworn in as the successor to Wolfgang Jung in the 20th electoral term as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council , where he is a member of the Standing Committee. In the state and municipal council elections in Vienna 2020 , he is running for 15th place on the FPÖ state list.
