Roman Seyfarth
Roman Seyfarth (born June 8, 1963 in Wasungen ) is a former Thuringian soccer player. In 1984/85 he played for BSG Motor Suhl in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association . At that time he was a vehicle mechanic by trade.
Seyfarth began playing football in his hometown of Wasungen at the agricultural company sports community (BSG) Traktor. At the age of 18 he came to the GDR league club BSG Motor Suhl via BSG Lok Meiningen at the beginning of the 1981/82 season . In the 1983/84 season, the 20-year-old was one of the most conspicuous players in the Suhl team, which fought for promotion to the league in this season. Seyfarth was his team's top scorer with eleven goals and played 29 of the 30 league games played. In the league season 1984/85 the 1.75 m tall Seyfarth was there from the first day of play and was missing again only in one point game by the end of the season. Coach Ernst Kurth used him in most games in attacking midfield, from where Seyfarth scored three championship goals. Since only striker Henry Lesser was more successful with four goals, Motor Suhl only scored 16 goals at the end of the season. With 92 goals conceded, the BSG was too weak for the league and, as the worst team of the season, had to relegate back to the GDR league after just one year .
Seyfarth stayed in Suhl even after relegation and played with the BSG or with their successor 1. Suhler SV until 1991 in the GDR league. He later worked as a football coach, most recently back in his hometown at SV Grün-Weiß Wasungen until 2001 and then as assistant coach again at 1. Suhler SV.
